The role of community navigator plays an part in advancing our region’s recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals. A few things the community navigator will do:
- Collaborate with provincial recruitment specialists and other key players to expedite the on-boarding of family physicians and healthcare experts in Digby.
- Forge a uniform approach to warmly welcome prospective doctors and healthcare professionals, offering them a glimpse into what our region holds.
- Institute effective channels of communication with physicians, aiming to foster greater retention.
- Engage and mentor local youth who showcase an inclination towards healthcare professions.
- Ensure a seamless transition for incoming healthcare personnel by assisting with accommodation, helping coordinate childcare and partner employment, and providing regular check-ins.
- Plan and organize special events and exploratory sessions for healthcare trainees.
